| How to Open or Start
a Soft Soak®
or biguanide treated Spa...

Before adding chemicals, check out these
Start Up basics
Soft Soak®
Start-Up (first time or upon
drain/refill)
-
Fill Spa with water. If the spa
has been standing empty for any period of time without being treated,
it is recommended that prior to filling the spa, add a spa plumbing
line cleaner (such as Spa System Flush, Swirl Away, Spa Purge or
AquaFinesse Spa Cleaner) to clean the spa's plumbing lines. Follow the
label directions. This will help provide a more successful
experience - biofilms can build-up even when not being in use (Did you
ever leave a thermos or cooler with a little bit of liquid in closed
up for a period of time? Same problem). A fill,
treat, drain &
refill is worth the extra time & effort.
-
Once filled with
water, start equipment following the manufacturer's written
instructions.
-
Test water for pH,
Total Alkalinity & Calcium Hardness.
-
Balance spa water
with SpaGuard Total Alkalinity Increaser and Calcium Hardness
Increaser. Follow label instructions or the directions provided.
-
Add the following
amounts of Soft Soak products per 150 gallons of spa water:
Add 1.5 oz. Soft Soak®
Waterline Control or 5 oz. Soft Soak®
Spa Conditioner (used at start-up only); allow to circulate for about
30 minutes WITHOUT the air blower
-
Add 1.0 oz. Soft
Soak®
Stain & Scale Control
Add 3.0 oz. Soft Soak®
Shock
-
All water to
circulate continuously for about 30 minutes with the air blowers (if
equipped) OFF.
-
Add 1.0 oz. of Soft
Soak®
Sanitizer per 150 gallons of spa water & circulate continuously again
for about 30 minutes.
-
Retest spa water
using Soft Soak®
Water Test Strips. Sanitizer level should be between 30 and 50 ppm
and the pH should be between 7.2 and 7.6.
